Malik paints a vision of a brighter future for the children of Vaulx-en-Velin. Where children run free and play safely. The scene takes place on the Promenade Lénine, a pathway named in keeping with the spirit of political naming traditions in cities historically marked by communism.

In December 2022, a devastating fire in a nearby neglected building claimed ten lives, including several children, and revealed the consequences of the state of disrepair and neglect. Like in this Promenade, there are many places in cities that are in urgent need for safer, healthier living conditions. Malik reimagines the place, by painting a promise, transforming loss into resilience, concrete into a lush greenscape. Here, the city isn’t just surviving; it’s breathing and the children grow surrounded by care, community and nature.
